green humphead parrotfish

Built in 1918 during the First World War, this warship was the first ship built by the Federal Shipbuilding and Drydock Company in New Jersey. Beached on Tulamben beach 9 km from Amed, then sunk by the volcanic eruption in 1963, this 125-metre boat is the jewel of the region. It is now Bali’s most popular diving site and one of the most visited wrecks in the world. Torpedoed by a Japanese I-166 class submarine, the USAT Liberty was to reach the Celukan military base in Singaraja towed by destroyers. Unable to reach his destination, it was on our beaches that he stopped forever.

For all divers, this boat is the reference in terms of diving level by its length (125 m) but also by its depth (from 4 m to 40 m for the most distant parts). For beginners, experienced and technical divers, this dive site is the attraction of the area! You will be able to observe abundant wildlife and a night outing will be an unforgettable experience for you, as many fish find refuge there. Amateur of macro, but also of larger specimens, this diving site in Amed will never cease to surprise you and us alike!
